Hit by Car

Out of 10

In April of 2011, my 2 year old Doberman mix, ran out of the house onto a busy street and got hit by a car. He was rushed to the local veterinarian who got him stable and took a few x-rays. The veterinarian then recommended that we take him to an animal hospital. The clinic ended up being around $400. Once we got to the animal hospital the veterinarians learned that he broke a back rib, and ruptured his spleen, leading to internal bleeding. It was recommended that he stay over night to be observed, and see if surgery was required. Luckily I got a phone call the next day, and was told that the spleen clotted and surgery was not required, and the rib will heal on its own. Without surgery the overnight stay (including all x-rays and such came to about $1400. All together it came down to a total of $1800 dollars. When I sent in the paperwork for the claim, I was surprised at the lack of information that petplan required of me (happily surprised), I even called to confirm and was told by the wonderful customer service that "Hit by Car" was more then enough. I was afraid there were going to be certain conditions that needed to be met, like other insurance companies, but was extremely pleased with petplan. In less then 7 days I logged onto the website and saw the amounts of the checks that I would be receiving, and everything was paid back except for my deductible($100). The check of course took some time to get to me, via USPS but everything was received and complete in less then 2
