Ben the Dog Rescues Sam the Cat- Thanks Pet Plan!

Samantha the cat had been in my life for over 10 years when I adopted Benji the dog. I had never even considered pet insurance until my cousin told me her dog broke his leg at a cost of $7000. So I thought Ben definitely needs insurance, but what about Sam? I couldn't buy for one and not the other right? But she's an indoor cat - why would she ever need pet insurance, Please! Well, I am so glad I purchased insurance for her and that PetPlan would cover her at her age. One morning I awoke to find her laying in the kitchen moaning in pain. My heart broke. This cat who was a little kitten who fit into the palm of my hand when I found her, who carries a stick around the house, plays with a 60 lb dog, sits with me every morning and speaks to me when she wants water out of the faucet - she brings me joy that I can never put into words...she was laying in front of my eyes thriving in pain. I rushed her to the vet. Dr.Kraft informed me that it could be a blood clot - fatal and common for indoor cats. $500 for Xrays and meds. Not a blood clot. Then the we need to rule out tumors and ruptured disc - MRI and CT Scan plus more meds and ER visit. Roughly $3000. Finally a diagnosis and a treatment for her pain. Pet Plan covered almost everything and the turn around time was less than 2 weeks. I was told that if surgery was required it would have cost roughly $4000.
If I had never adopted my rescue dog Benji, Samantha would never have had insurance. So Ben the Dog did rescue Sam the Cat

I had a cat like that. He was in my life for 17 years. I was wondering, what was it that caused Sam to be in pain? Also, thanks for the reminder of how much vet bills can be.
