I have lived in a multiple dog household for some 45 years and I am well aware of the high costs of Vet bills especially toward the end of a dog’s life. After a dog passes on, I usually wind up getting another dog after a little while because the remaining dog misses its companion and just does not behave in its normal manor. This is why I acquired Snowstorm (Stormy) who is a pure white Siberian Husky. She was healthy, active and an instant friend to Angelique, my other Siberian. After Stormy’s initial puppy expenses (shots, spaying) were over, I looked into pet insurance for both of the dogs because they both were young, healthy and obtaining insurance would still be relatively inexpensive. PetPlan appeared to be the best pet insurance company out there based on the reviews I read. I had read many a horror story concerning claims with many of the other insurance companies and did not expect to have a problem with PetPlan if I needed to use them. I elected to have a high deductable Silver policy with a copayment because I was not expecting to need to use the policy anytime soon. Unfortunately, at seventeen months of age, Stormy started limping and had an unusual posture which made even the Vet's Staff look at her in horror. I took her to a specialist and found out she developed Stage IV Patella Luxation in both rear legs and was going to need surgery one leg at a time with a three to four month wait between surgeries to allow the first leg to heal.
