This is a review of my experience so far. I have previously been insured by ASPCA insurance and have had a better experience than PetPlan, which is ironic when you read the reviews for both.
Months ago, after I adopted my cat at age 7, I took him to my vet for his first visit. She cleaned out his ears, and he had dark colored debris inside. She did not diagnose him with an infection, nore was I prescribed any meds at this time as would have been done if that had been the case.

5 months later, he was found to have an ear infection and was treated for it. They are using the "black debris" 5 months ago as a reason to deny my claim, even though this did not definitely indicate having an infection back then. I will dispute this claim and have my vet make a statement. If they do not do the right thing or if I experience the stonewalling mentioned by others, they will certainly lose my business.

Another thing I do not like about PetPlan is not being able to see your claim status online when you log into your account. I understand this is a glitch that I was told about when I called and they notified their IT department. Well, it's 3 weeks later and I still can't access claims online and view their status like I'm supposed to be able to.

I am sorry about your cat but question the vet care you received. A dark, greasy discharge in the ear is a classic sign of yeast infection and this is likely why PetPlan has classified your claim as is.....
In my case, PetPlan paid out $20,000 - the max allowed by my plan for my girl and so rest assured, they pay when qualified.

PetPlan USA has gapping holes in it's customer service. Compared to VPI, the plan is better but not by that much.
