Astro, my 7 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi, earned a major agility championship title on 10/10/10 only to be diagnosed 15 days later with a brain tumor. He had been the model of health and never had any serious medical issues. As you can imagine I was devastated. Not knowing the type of tumor he may of had, we opted for the surgery to remove it. Astro was a trooper through surgery and had an incredible recovery. Unfortunately the biopsy of the tumor came back as histocystic sarcoma, the most rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Astro had a good six weeks at home (turning 8 on 12/1/10) and had started chemo therapy, but he was no match for the cancer. The tumor regrew and spread only one month after a clean scan with the onset of a grand mal seizure on 12/18. Astro was able to be home for one last Christmas. He has been spoiled rotten these last few days making every moment of his remaining days count. Astro had a huge heart and he gave every bit of that heart to me each and every day.
If it was not for Pet Plan, I would of had to make a much more difficult decision. The surgery itself was around $5000 and to add on to that the chemotherapy, possible radiation and the after care, the expenses could of mounted up to $15,000. Pet Plan was there to help. They handled each claim promptly and in most times had the check around the same time I my credit card bill came due. They paid out everything they said they would and without them I would not have been
