Cardiomyopathy in my 1.5 year old puppy

I was given a boxer puppy the same day I had to put my 9 year old boxer to sleep. I knew I wanted to purchase pet insurance and had previously had a policy with VPI and dropped it because it was awful. I am in the insurance industry so I looked at all of the policies and found Petplan to be the best. They covered hereditary conditions, you can choose your deductible and co-insurance. On December 15, 2008 my 1 1/2 year old boxer started coughing and seemed to be having a hard time breathing. I took him to the Pet Emergency and he was diagnosed with Dialated Cardiomyopathy and left sided congestive heart failure. The bill from the pet emergenct was almost $2,000 and the next day my vet suggested I take my puppy to a cardiologist which I did (another bill for almost $1,600). Petplan was there to help and even called me to let me know they were sending the reimbursement checks. I could not give these wonderful people at Petplan a stronger endorsement!
