do not buy this pet insurance, have a lab that injured his knee and needed surgery- they denied it and now i have to appeal to them and to an "independent" third party vet, that gets paid by whom??? yes, trupanion, how can this vet ever be impartial?- my dog has been at the same vet for over 11 years and not one problem ever with his leg!- full documented records and still they don't want to pay and they keep delaying the appeal process so i keep paying the premium! stay away!!

Why did they deny the claim?

John,I apologize for your frustration with your recent claims experience. When claims become appealed and make it to third-party review, they are sent to a veterinarian with expert knowledge on the particular condition for which the claim was filed. These third-party decisions are truly independent of our claims department (claims decisions can and do get overturned) and determine the outcome of the claim based on our policy wording and your pet's medical history as it pertains to that particular claim.
If you would like to discuss this further, please give your claims adjuster a call at 800-569-7913.

I was thinking of getting this insurance. I would love to know why they denied the claim and what the 3rd party reviewer ends up saying. Thanks!
