Had I known what Cherry Eye was, I would have never taken my puppy to the vet while in the 30 day wait period. I thought she had an injury which should have been covered. But no, they now wont pay for bi-lateril surgery. They say it was pre existing. I could have taken her to a new vet and pretended that it was a new issue. Thats what I get for being honest...about $1500 in vet bills!

Marcelo, we appreciate your feedback on your claim experience. Trupanion does not cover conditions that have shown symptoms to be present prior to having full coverage or new illnesses that are related to a pre-existing condition. During a review of a claim it is normal claim procedure to validate if the claim submitted is eligible for coverage, this is done with the review of your pet’s medical history. If you and your veterinarian believe that the conditions were unrelated, you can have your veterinarian write us a letter stating so as there is a claims appeal process. Our condolences on Toby’s recent passing. Please give us a call to discuss your options directly with your claims adjuster at 800-569-7913.
