Prices Are Skyrocketing

We've had Pets Best for our dog for six years, since he was a puppy. When we first signed up, the premium was very reasonable and comparable with other companies. Two years ago, they got a new underwriter, and the premium doubled. Then it increased by a couple hundred dollars again this year.
At the same time, it's taking them longer and longer to pay out claims. For one claim this summer, I had to call them and ask for an ETA because it had been more than a month. The person I talked to said the claim had been approved and should be paid out that week. Then I got a follow-up call from her saying the claim actually needed further approval.

Historically, Pets Best has been very good about covering my dog's accidents and illnesses, and I've been very grateful to have pet insurance. However, when we got a second dog, I decided to use a different pet insurance company, because Pets Best has just gotten too expensive, and my confidence in their integrity is eroding based on recent interactions with the company.
