Canceled my policy when I submitted a big claim

I started with Pets Best in 2014 and had no claims. In 2015 they raised my rates, so I took a bigger deductible from $200 to $500. When my cat got Kidney disease I submitted a bill for $500 and they canceled my policy. They did return the annual premium on a prorated basis. I paid $167 for the year and got back $147. I don't believe they will process the claim even though it occurred prior to my policy canceling. I had to put down my cat a month later and that cost me $67. I won't even submit that even though it occurred prior to cancellation unless the $500 claim is processed. With them returning my premium I broke even. I wouldn't use them again.
