Microchip Rip-Off

I agree with almost all of the other posts on this site saying that 24 Pet Watch is a terrible company. They take advantage of people trying to protect their pets and give them no benefits from all the money they've spent. There are so many loophooles and fine print that you never get what you sign up for. I had a problem with them from the very beginning. My cats were already microchipped with this company when I got them from the shelter, so I was stuck with it. I signed up for the free 30-day insurance and soon after my cats got sick with a URI and I needed to take them to the vet and get medicine for both of them. They made the claim system extremely difficult and time-consuming, maybe hoping that people won't actually take the effort to file a claim. Tons of paperwork, lots of tedious information needed, and then you have to file it through the vet instead of just sending it in. And none of it cannot be done online in an easy way. Then of course my claim was denied. After all that, I discovered that their microchips don't work after a year unless you sign up for their maintenance program. If you don't pay their yearly fees they won't let you update your information. Can you imagine losing your pet and then being told that their microchip doesn't work because you didn't want to pay a yearly fee for a chip that requires NO MAINTENANCE! As soon as I discovered this, I tried to switch to a new microchip company that doesn't charge after the microchip is inserted and was told that most vets/shelters won't insert another microchip when there is already one in place. So now I'm stuck with this terrible company that at best has a 2-star rating out of 10. This company is the worst.

This used to be Purina Pet Insurance and they were wonderful. You would receive a letter when they received your claim within 2 weeks and a check in the next 2 weeks. I submitted claims in January and this is the end of March and no word. Called them, on hold for 45 minutes. Then they tell me they see the claims in the computer and will take care of it. 30 days ago. Bull. I am seeking restitution through the Attorney General's office here in Texas. Stay away from this company.
