My 4 year old dog, Minnie and I were away visiting friends. We woke up one morning and as soon as Minnie got up she screamed and he whole demeanor changed. Her back was arched and she was panting. She was in pain. This went on all day so after calling her vet (the earliest I could get an appointment was the first thing in morning). I was not able to get an appointment with a nearby vet so I decided to go home early. She didn't eat or drink anything all day. She stopped panting but I could tell she was not herself. So after taking 3 ferries we finally arrived home. At 9 p.m. Minnie looked at me and was again panting heavily. I took her to the emergency vet. They did blood work, etc. They thought it might Lyme disease even though she had a Lyme vaccination. They gave her a pain killer and an antibiotic to get her through the night. Took her to her vet in the morning and they did an x-ray and discovered she had a bladder stone in her ureter. They couldn't get a urine sample from her to determine what type of stone. I finally got one from her the next day. The next day she passed the stone because immediately she was back to normal. I am so thankful for having insurance for her with PetPlan. I have nothing but good things to say about this company. This is my second time having a claim (the first time Minnie was attacked by another dog at daycare) and both times PetPlan responded immediately and I was paid immediately. It is a great relief knowing that if my pet is ill I don't have to worry about the financial end of it. That I can take care of Minnie without a worry other than for her.
