Reimbursement Not Worth Even $15/mo

Out of 10

After spending over $4,000 on vet bills for my dog's two cancer surgeries and accompanying procedures, I was reimbursed a mere $500 by PetFirst. My policy covers up to $1000 per year, and if anything warrants PetFirst dishing out the whole amount it'd be the whopping bills I had. However, they denied me half, citing their sketchy "500 limit per incident" rule, regardless of the 2 major surgeries. I've paid $15 per month on this policy for years. I should've just kept the money in my savings in case of an incident instead of giving it away to PetFirst. I'll be cancelling my policy soon.

I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with the reimbursement you received. It is true our older plans do have a per-incident limit, and your reaction is very similar to what we heard from other policyholders.

This was one of the reasons we introduced our Lifetime plans, which have annual limits of ($5K, $10K or $20K) and no per-incident limit or lifetime payout limit. Plus, they cover hereditary, congenital and chronic issues.

Before you cancel, I do recommend talking to one of our agents about our Lifetime coverage- it is much more comprehensive than the plan you current have for your pet.

I hope your dog is recovering quickly and back to themselves soon.
