Claim Paid But It Took A While

At 12:15am one night in August, I went to retrieve my 6 year old male cat Misty May from my screened in porch. He struggled, tried to bite me and twisted out of my arms on to the porch floor where he vomited and hunched up in obvious pain and distress. I rushed him to Animal Emergency where he was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and ileus. He spent two days in the hospital in supportive care. The bill was $2000! I submitted the claims and Embrace did cover the cost less my deductible and 20% co-pay. However I will say it took Embrace more than 6 weeks to reimburse me and multiple emails back and forth. Nonetheless, I was glad I had the policy and do recommend insuring your pet with Embrace.

Mary Ellen, I hope Misty May is doing much better after his visit to the hospital. I do apologize about the length of time it took to process your claim - that's not like Embrace. We are finishing up bedding down a new claims system that's caused a delay in processing claims so should you have further claims coming up (hopefully not!), you shouldn't experience delays like this again.

That seems to be the "norm" for this company. I am very glad I have this Insurance for my pet as I have used it quite a bit. However, they are so very slow and it took over 6 weeks to get my claims paid as well. This was after multiple e-mails back and forth and phone conversations where I was ASSURED that the claims had been expidited. I seriously considered mailing in a dictionary with the definition of expedite marked in highlighter in case there was some sort of language or comprehension problem among their staff. Again, I am grateful for the coverage but this company needs to do better in the claim processing department.
