Renal Failure

Our almost 12 your old Ocicat, Monique, was unfortunately born with a kidney that was smaller than the other and also developed kidney stones that could not be removed. Over time this lead to renal failure (which as I understand it is the leading cause of death in cats) and what it really means is that her kidneys stopped functioning properly and she ended up developing urinary tract infections as well as just not retaining fluids like she should. She ended up spending a week in a hospital getting fluids and we now have to give her Sub Q fluids at home three times a week. Needless to say all of this wasn't cheap and we ended up spending over $3,700 just for this one issue! But we are REALLY glad that we have Petplan because got most of it back. We have had Petplan for about 5 years now and they always process the claims quickly. Definitely worth the money!!
