Pre-Existing Condition for New Adoptee

Out of 10

I received the 24 Hour Pet Watch Gift Insurance for a newly adopted puppy. Two days later I brought her into the vet for mites, an ear infection and urinary incontinence. I extended the policy since these were conditions that were going to take repeated visits before she was better. She had symptoms of all three in the days before going to the vet. The mites and ear infection claims were paid. The incontinence/UTI were denied on the basis of pre-existing condition. If the Gift Policy is give by the adoption group so that any conditions are covered when you adopt your new pet, it is extremely diappointing to have the insurance company decide which are pre-existing and which are not. Obviously, the most expensive condition was. Needless to say, I will be cancelling coverage immediately.

I think you were possibly misled by the shelter who provided you false info about the insurance. They don't represent the insurance company so maybe you should have read the details a bit more clearly. You could have been left with nothing but at least they gave you some coverage.

I think the medical records determine what is preexisting, not the company? No insurance companies cover prexisting conditions, none of them do.
