What I thought was the canine equivalent of a sprained ankle was actual a lateral cruciate tear (comparable to a torn ACL in a human). Surgery was advised and, ultimately, the costs rose to over $4,000.00. Gulp. I had to pat myself on the back for having purchased PetPlan insurance for Daisy when I adopted her as I honestly do not know what I would have done without it. It afforded me the opportunity to get Daisy the best of the best on her case at The Animal Medical Center in New York. The claims process was incredibly smooth; I had to submit 5 or 6 and each was paid within 2-3 weeks. The pre-authorization for the actual surgery went through in about 24 hours.
I wish my own insurance company was as efficient as PetPlan.
