I had pet insurance on my first dog to help cover costs of things when he got cancer. I got reimbursed very nicely for those. My second pup Reese got out into the woods one day and didn't come back when he did he had been SHOT TWICE on Christmas Eve 2012!! He was shot in his right forelimb and elbow, very nasty wounds and down his ribs but that was just superficial. Being a low income college student I panicked. We went to the emergency clinic, my regular veterinarian and I consulted with a few local referral centers. I couldn't find anyone to help him without wanting to amputate his leg. We went to Auburn University Teaching Hospital and got very good care and he still has his leg. Out of a little over $7000 for the total bill from all of the places we went I only paid right around $1200. This definitely saved my bank account! Thank you so much I wouldn't have my dog without you guys. I also have moved to a different state and am beginning rehabilitation with him and he might get a special brace to help him walk, which I can afford because of pet insurance.
