After i submitted a claim for my dogs ACL repair i got a letter in the mail saying that from now on they will only pay 40%not the normal 80%. I called and was told a manual review of the file would be done and someone would get back to me but nothing, as i expected. They said this was done by computer and all files were checked every six months i said if thats the case i have not had a claim in the last six months.

Did you find this review helpful?

Same here! They will reduce the payout percentage if you have big claim!!! For my case, I have plan 2 for my cats, one cat was diagnosed with cancer and we had already claimed the max amount of $2,500 at the very beginning during the diagnostic procedure.....after 8 months, I received a letter saying that the policy will be changed and they will only payout 70% instead of 80%!! I'm VERY disappointed with this company because they said they won't increase the premium due to your claims but then they change the payout percentage to penalize you!!! Don't buy insurance with this company for your pets. I'll definitely go to Trupanion in the future.

Ditto. Exact experience. A specialist clinic in Vancouver commented that's what every client experiences once they've taken their dog to a specialist/more substantial issue (and not 10-20k but even $1500-$300).
