You hope you never have to take advantage of your insurance. However when your loved one is sick, health insurance makes life easier. I had VPI for my prior 2 dogs. My insurance premium basically covered medication for one of my doggies (so it was basically a wash if I didn't have health insurance). As she got older her eyes had problems. VPI covered a good portion of her medicine. When I got 2 new puppies, I took advantage of the benefits for puppies (like helping with spading). They are both 2 and 3 now. One is very healthy and the other one contacted valley fever and had problems with his liver. We were lucky to sign them up in VPI while he was still healthy. The reimbursement on claims has been very good.
