When we got our third and fourth Berners, I knew we'd need insurance. I had had coverage from another company for the first two, and although they did what they said they'd do, the reimbursed based on an unrealistically low schedule and there were quite a few exclusions. Two Berners, two years, just north of 9K in claims; all paid promptly. From coverage for immune mediated meningitis, to simple skin infections, to a fragment of a tennis ball that was ingested and took a couple of months to pass, they''ve paid it all. The older dog has hips that will be prone to,dysplasia later and our vet suggested a series of injections to help prevent it. I didn't submit a claim for these since I knew hip dysplasia wasn't covered for the first year. They actually called me and asked about his and told me that since he had not been diagnosed with hip dysplasia it would be covered and to submit a claim. When is the last time your insurance company called you and asked you to submit paperwork so they could send you a check. There are quite a few companies that write pet insurance now. I looked at all of them before picking Healthy Paws. Very few have annual deductibles, rather than per incident deductibles. Those that have annual deductibles tend to have WAY more exclusions. The premiums are reasonable and the claims service is speedy. I always have my check within three days, most of the time in two days and once I even got the check the next day. (I live about 45 miles from the "Mother Sh

HEALTHY PAWS: "When any pet parent calls our Customer Care Team to enroll their pet, we stress the need for a clinical examination if their pet hasn't had one."
This is a false statement.
Upon enrolling over the phone, we were asked if our pets have been seen by a vet during the past year. (If you record the calls, you are welcome to go back and listen to it).
They do not specifically ask if your pet had a complete "Nose to tail" examination by a vet.

How about this: Why doesn't Healthy Paws first require a mandatory clinical examination prior to enrolling?! You know why they don't do that? Because that way, they can take your money for months or years until your pet gets sick, and then they will deny your claim on some bogus (non existing) "pre-existing medical condition" that they can tie to what ever is wrong with your animal and deny your claim.

HEALTHY PAWS: "Unfortunately, since there didn't seem to be any veterinarian notes/records on your pet for the past 7 years (only invoices) and no record of any clinical examination, we had no other option but to deny your claim."

Healthy Paws are in the medical insurance business, so I think it would be fair to assume that they are WELL AWARE of the fact that it is common practice by vet's clinics to destroy medical records older than 3 years if a pet is no longer a patient of the clinic.
The clinics do keep the INVOICES for their own book keeping.
The invoices CLEARLY show all medical history of treatments, vaccinations etc. which were performed on the pet.
Therefore, it is fairly easy to conclude by studying the invoices that the pet did not go through any sort of CANCER TREATMENT, or any other medical treatment for that matter due to illness in the past! (That's because she never had cancer!)

Don't be fooled by "Great reviews" from Yelpers who only reviewed 1 or 2 businesses!
Those are most likely shill reviews by Healthy Paws.

IF YOU ARE EVEN REMOTELY CONSIDERING INSURING YOUR PET WITH HEALTHY PAWS, I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU READ THROUGH ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEW AND YOU WILL FIND THE SAME PATTERN.
I WOULD ALSO RECOMMEND TO RESEARCH ALL COMPLAINTS FIILED AGAINST HEALTHY PAWS WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREU.
THEY HAVE 9 COMPLAINTS, AND ALL FOR THE SAME REASON!

I guess the "NO LIMIT" payout is great advertising scam when you actually don't intend to pay on any claims!

HEALTHY PAWS: "We hope Mocha and Chip are well."

NO, they are not well! Mocha now has cancer, and we had to pay almost $3,000 for her surgery and treatment ON TOP of the $1,200 we've paid Healthy Paws for almost a year to "Insure" our pets. Money that was spent for absolutely NOTHING.
On top of that, Mocha is now not eligible for insurance anymore.

Thank you Healthy Paws for your "concern"....

Healthy Paws, you guys are right about one thing for sure; "Pet parents are passionate about their pets"
Therefore, I can guarantee you that a negative review on Yelp and a BBB complaint is only the beginning of my mission to hold your company accountable to the damages we've incurred.
