8 Out of 10 Glad I had some kind of pet insurance. The only thing that I did not care for is that the deductible is applied to different conditions and not a one-time deductible. I wanted to explain the reason Trupanion has chosen a per-incident deductible over an annual deductible. Most pets experience just one or two chronic or on-going problems, rather than several short-term issues. With an annual deductible, you have to meet your deductible again every single year, even if the only problem your pet experiences that year met the deductible in the year prior. With a per-incident deductible, you only need to meet your deductible one time per condition, no matter how long your pet requires care for that condition. That means if the only issue your pet needs care for is allergies for 6 years in a row, you only have to meet your deductible once during that time. With an annual deductible, you'd have to meet it again every single year. Hope that clears things up for you, but we're always happy to answer questions over the phone as well.
