Our 3 year old English Mastiff had stopped eating (unheard of - I know) and hadn't use the bathroom for 24 hours. He has gotten into our sock draw before and we were immediately concerned this might be a major blockage. After $1,000 xray, it looked like our fear was true. We decided to operate since there was a chance that exploratory wouldn't be able to grab the object. After the longest 3 hours of our lives, it was found that it wasn't an object but an extremely inflamed gastrointestinal tract!!!
Total cost = $4500 !!!. We nervously submitted the claim on 7/10. We were contacted on 7/15 to submit his past medical records since we have never submitted a claim before and they needed more information. On 7/26, we learned that $3600 (80% - our plan) would be returned to us !!! Wooooohoooo.
I am happy to report he is doing great on his new diet and his scars are healing nicely.
Between being able track the claim online and talking to a real live person (within 5 minutes) on every call - we are extremely satisfied.
We have told all our friends and families about our experience. We hopefully never have to use pet insurance again but its a HUGE relief knowing Petplan is there if we need it.
