My very active, very physical Belgian Malinois was diagnosed with a cruciate rupture. My vet, knowing her activity level and her likely career path in performance sports, recommended a referral to a specialty clinic for a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy).
I went through the optional process of getting pre-authorization, and received an email approval notification two days after the paperwork was submitted. The day after surgery I submitted my claim, and tracked
the submission through my Account area. I received notification that the claim was approved and a check had been mailed four working days later, and email notification on day five. The check was in my mailbox when I returned home that day, for the expected amount (80%).
As a web professional, one of the unexpected bonuses of PetPlan for me is the quality of the online account area. All paperwork is available as downloadable PDFs, with
dog details pre-filled. Some of the more complicated forms (like the pre-auth) have instruction sheets with checklists to make sure you remember everything (medical records release, estimates, etc.). You can also track claims online and view any policy documents.
I've received very personable and prompt email responses to any questions or paperwork submissions with PetPlan.
This is my first experience with pet insurance and it has definitely been a positive one.
