GREAT and not so great!

Out of 10

I have had Pets Best Insurance since 2007. The claims process is EXCELLENT! They get 10 stars for this. I highly recommend them for this fact and the fact that they are flexible with which vet you can use etc.
I do have a problem with the fact that they NO LONGER permit herbal remedies for reimbursement/treatment. In fact it's very sad... let me explain why. They once did and it began my journey to eliminate my dog, Bellah's chronic ear infections. Conventional vets are wonderful but not to get to the root of any issue so I began using an integrative medicine vet (which again,I have to say Pets Best is wonderful for allowing ANY vet). Bellah responded VERY well to Chinise herbs and began the healing process for allergies. I moved from GA - CA and allergies changed - I found another great integrative medicine vet and she again prescribed TCM (Traditional Chinise Medicine). When Pets Best went to Aetna they no longer covered this cost and in fact Bellah no longer has ear infections because of the herbs - therefore, really saving PetsBest money (due to less claims and visits to the vet).

Hi Anita, we’re glad to hear your dog no longer suffers from chronic ear infections. Pets Best Insurance plans have never covered herbal remedies, regardless of the underwriter. We do, however, cover all medications on the FDA approved list or our own formulary, depending on the state you live in. Details can be found at
