I have had large and small claims with VPI and some good experiences and some less than fantastic... it's still insurance. My last big expense involved my 4 year old Great Dane who I discovered a lump on. We did xrays, ultrasounds and biopsies and VPI kicked in on all of them. When I decided to explore surgery the surgeon suggested a CT scan to ensure the tumor hadn't spread to the lungs before going into surgery. The CT scan was almost $1600 and I only paid about $150 or something close to that. All in all I paid for the plan with this boy pretty quickly. With giant breeds comes giant vet bills and having some insurance gives me the peace of mind that if something unexpected came up I could have a chance at helping them!
