Not up front on coverage & exclusions

Out of 10

I signed up for their 30-day free trial. The trial activation form says that this 30-day period is full coverage. IT IS NOT!!! It is limited coverage, which I found out after my puppy was diagnosed with a condition not covered. After 2 weeks, the company finally responded to say that I would have had to 'upgrade' the trial for the full coverage during the trial period. Their website does NOT say this. When I tried to upgrade, it wanted me to start paying immediately instead of at the end of the 30 day free period. Needless to say, I will be getting my insurance from another company. If Trupanion can't be upfront about everything, I don't want to do business with them

Kim, I hope maybe you'll check this site again ;) I also have a Vizsla and am looking for insurance for him. What provider did you end up going with?

What do you mean by "full coverage" in the context of your pet's condition? Some conditions are only covered by additional riders that you can purchase. Not all conditions are covered by the basic policy, which is clearly stated on their website. You do not state the condition of which you speak. And yes, when you upgrade, whether on Trupanion or any other pet insurance (or human insurance, etc.) you have to start paying for that upgrade right away. They are really up front on their website. It appears you didn't read it all, or understand it if you did read it. Advice, don't go with Pet Plan though, their coverage is good but their customer service is atrocious and the claim payments can take months.
