Unable to cancel insurance after Pet dies

Out of 10

Wow. My beloved pet died in July. I called Banfield to cancel the monthly insurance payments and was told that I could not cancel. I was only 3 months into a new plan year so am now paying for a deceased beloved pet. Very upsetting and a rip off. I think this policy is criminal. I was very happy with the plan and my vet until this. This policy was not made clear to me when I started. I now have a new pound rescue pup and an hesitant about going back to them. Anyone have any good pet insurance recommendations?

I have gopetplan.com and I love it.
I used to have Banfield with my last dog and they were beyond horrible (Scottsdale, AZ). They would not let me cancil the policy even thought I refused to go back to that vet and would not let me switch to another. I sarted going to a non banfield vet, who told me it was a scam and then when I cancilled the policy at renewall time, the woman kept me on the phone for half an hour tellin me all of the options that I had available to solve the problem with the vet. No one mentioned any of these options, until I had the opportunity to cancil the policy.

My vet recommended ASPCA and trupanion insurance. Hope that helps and Pam thanks for the info ongogetpetplan. I will also look into that. I can't bring my new pup home for another week or so

I know pet owners that have healthy paws and are extremely happy with the coverage and care they have received. This is what I will be getting for my 3 month old miniature schnauzer; low deductible and no limit to the coverage.

I find this very hard to believe. When my cat died (over 4 years ago) I called the next day to cancel my plan for him and it was cancelled immediately!
