Deciding whether or not to insure our new puppy was almost as big of a decision as bringing her home in the first place. We went back & forth several times about insuring her or opening a savings account for vet fees. We decided that we would try insurance for a few years and get rid of it if we never used it. I searched around, including on this site and requested many quotes. Ultimately we went with a PetPlan Gold account because of it's good rating, reviews and easy to understand fee schedule. We've been insured with PetPlan since March of 2009 and are very happy with the coverage and service. Less then a year after buying the policy we filed our first claim for just under $1500. after months of dealing with HGE. I was surprised at how easy the process was and how fast I received my reimbursement check. In January 2012, we found ourselves again sitting in an emergency clinic anxiously awaiting word on whether our 3 year old Westie would be headed into surgery or not for a blockage. It was such a relief to know that PetPlan had her covered and I could focus on making the right decisions for her and not how I was going to pay for it. Three weeks later another packet of forms went out to PetPlan and in less then two weeks I had my check for $2900.
The claims process is easy, just a claim form for each invoice and a medical record or release form. Everything you need is in your account online and you can track the progress of your claim once it's been logged into the system.
