While on vacation in Portland, Oregon, my little Mollie, a 5 lb Maltese/Havanese mix, suffered an accident on Christmas day. She smacked her head when my husband fell while carrying her. She suffered a hemmorage behind her eye, which pushed her right eye out of the socket. I took her to a 24hr vet hospital in Portland, where they had to remove her eye. The surgery was $840.00, and Petplan covered it at 90% after my deductible. When I got home to Post Falls, Idaho, her eye did NOT heal up and so I took her to my regular vet, who put her on more antibiotics. (Petplan paid for those at 90%, too.) After 10 more days, her surgical scar was still oozing, so my vet had me bring her in, and he opened up her eye injury and removed several pieces of tissue that they missed in Portland. The second surgery cost $370.00 and Petplan paid for that surgery at 90% as well. They didn't charge a second deductable, even though the surgery was done in two different states, during two different years! I am so thankful for Petplan!! They took great care of me and when I called to speak with them about my claim, they reassured me that they would take care of it and were concerned only with Mollie and how she was doing. I can't imagine what would have happened had we not had insurance. I highly recommend this company!! They are wonderful!!
