When I got my two kities a year and a half ago, I did a lot of research on pet insurance and prices. I read a lot of reviews and many that were not so great saying that such and such pet insurance didn't pay because of some reason or another. The cost were also a little steep for what they covered and as a low-income student, that was a major factor. PetPlan was actually a fluke because it didn't come up right away when I googled and once I found reviews on them, they had great reviews and the prices were more reasonable! So I jumped on it and so far everything has been great! My one cat got a urinary tract blockage and had to stay overnight at the vets for 3 days which ended up costing close to $1000 in vet bills. PetPlan reimbursed me within 2 weeks for 80% (the plan I chose) so it was much more affordable.
My only gripe about PetPlan is that getting answers or changing your plan might be a little confusing and difficult. Lately they seemed a little short on patience on the phone than when I first started and I was always directed to doing things on the website instead of asking a question on the phone. Once I do a website submission, rarely does anyone get back to me. They simply change my policy without telling me the price which I specifically asked via web submission and I received no notification that they changed it. I have to be surprised at my bill.
