We were “dog people” until Hollie followed us home 4 years ago. She quickly turned from back-porch cat to sleeps-in-our-bed (or on top of me or wherever else) cat. Recently, we had taken Hollie to visit the vet, suspecting a minor bladder infection. It was a great shock to learn she had Mast Cell Tumors (MCT, or cancer) in her spleen, a very dangerous condition so we had to operate right away. At least there was a good chance of getting all or most of it. We were sure glad we had Petplan as there was so much to worry about already during that stressful week. Within a week of Hollie’s operation, Petplan mailed us a check, and has kept their promises in every way since then.
We have had a great team of vets, surgeons, and vet techs, successfully removing Hollie’s spleen but finding some traces of MCT in her liver as well. So, she is now on lots of “meds”. She gets most of them ground up in her food twice a day, but we have to “pill” our cat 3 times a week with Palladia. Part of her ritual is to complain and howl, but we are getting better at it, and a few “Noms” right after the pill are a great help. She has gained back almost 2 pounds since her surgery and is now at her normal weight and “in remission” (yay) per our oncologist. Petplan continues to be there for us as we are now down to just some routine follow-up visits and “meds”. We feel lucky Hollie followed us home and changed our lives, and just as lucky that we found Petplan so we can keep up Hollie’s successful fight
