I've gone through 5, yes 5 TPLO surgeries for 3 of 6 Great Pyrenees over the years. The first 3 surgeries I paid out of pocket, (OUCH).
I decided to get pet insurance on my last 2 Great Pyrenees pups. I had a 50/50 chance I would be going through this again. I researched all the various pet insurance plans and very happy I chose Pet Plan.
Twinky had surgery April 2010 on his first leg, the second leg was June 2011. This last surgery was the worst of all. A serious infection requiring the plate be surgically removed cost another $1400. 5 months later my dog is finally on the road to recovery. Having Pet Plan allowed me to not worry about the costs as each surgery exceeded $3,000 each and the additional unexpected surgery.
My other Pyr shows no signs of problems but I can be comforted he's covered too.
Pet Plan has been reliable reimbursing all my claims! I recommend Pet Plan to everyone who asks. I even suggested to my local vet to recommend Pet Plan over VPI.
