Trupanion pets lead longer happier lives.1 Pets insured with Trupanion lived longer than pets without Trupanion because pet parents didn’t have to worry about the cost of the care their pet needed. Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). They have transformed the way pet insurance handles claims by eliminating the reimbursement process. Really surprised at how aggressively…

Really surprised at how aggressively monthly premiums increase after sign up. No claims I’ve made have been approved, so not sure how worthwhile this coverage really is.

Lukewarm on Trupanion

Trupanion used to cover a lot more stuff, now it seems like denial of claim is automatic. Then I get a $14/mo increase because my dog is one year older, with less than 30 days notice. $75/month?! What will it be next year?

RUN!!!! THEY WILL ROB YOU!!

I had submitted a claim and had to wait 2 and a half months just for it to be denied!!! They denied my claim based on the fact that the clinic had the wrong adoption date, which was an admin error. I even had the actual adoption papers from the breeder to prove my claim and they STILL denied me. This company DOES NOT CARE about its consumers. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL after multiples calls I was told it takes 6-8 weeks for a simple stool sample claim. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY AND SCAM YOU. I refuse to pay them another penny!!!!!

If I could give no stars I would!! Do not choose this company

If I could give no stars I would! Terrible company, raised my rates to more than double what I originally agreed to, will not cover anything. And my dogs are 2 & 4 years old. Takes months for their claims department to get to anything, huge deductibles, and once your pet has preexisting condition you are stuck with trupanion and they wont cover a dime of anything. Customer service is awful, claims process is awful, rates are going up and up and up and they know they can do it because if your pet has a condition, the next company wont cover it. The stress and heartache and anxiety I have had to go through not only dealing with my dogs surgery but my own stress is NOT WORTH IT. This company is detrimental to my health and my dogs health. I think its time i jump ship because they arent covering anything anyway so whats the point. Years of paying them and they dont care about you or your pets. Better off going to a company that with at least cover meds and exam fees…. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY- YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice. To view a full list of inclusions and exclusions, check out our sample policy here.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
