Best Pet Insurance!!!

After not being satisfied with VPI, I was fortunate to find PetFirst Healthcare. They have excellent customer service. You quickly get thru to a live person on the phone, they are happy to thoroughly answer policy or claim questions, and are sympathetic to your needs during pet illnesses and end of life care. Their coverage is great too. I have had three rescued German Shepherds(younger and older ages) covered under their Preferred Plus Family Plan which allowed me to share the coverage between the dogs. One of my dogs recently needed an MRI to diagnose a brain tumor and they paid over $1600 of the $1800 bill. At a time when you pet is ill and needs an expensive test like this, it was a huge comfort to know that I would be able to afford it. I will continue to have PetFirst Healthcare provide insurance for all my dogs.

Paid really quickly

I had both my cat and dog at the vet for sickness (I'm first non routine claims) and they paid with 15 days--I was so happy---I would highly recommend this company. I just wished they covered a little on the congenital issues I will have with my bulldog, but most companies do not--that is the only reason I am giving a 9 and not a 10

Certainly Worth the Money!

My dog had several parasites as a puppy and it ended up costing us over 1000 dollars. Once he was better I set out to get some pet insurance for him. I read lots of reviews and decided on Pet First Insurance with Routine Care. I have had the policy for 6 months and have already gotten a lot more out of it than I have paid for it! They charge a 50 dollar deductible for illness or accident claims, but they reimburse 90% after that (no deductible for routine care). See my claims below from the last six months (the first dollar amount is what it cost me, the second is how much they reimbursed): Approved Max Accident / Illness femoral fracture $204.45 $184.01 Approved Max Routine Heartworm Preventive Medication $45.00 $25.80 Approved Max Accident / Illness fractured femur $458.10 $367.29 Approved Max Routine Spay/Neuter $90.00 $75.00 Approved Max Routine Prescription Flea Control January-June $17.00 $15.30 Approved Max Routine Prescription Flea Control January-June $15.00 $13.50 Approved Max Routine Heartworm Preventive Medication $6.00 $5.40 Approved Max Routine DHL-P Canine Vaccine $25.00 $22.50 As you can see all my claims have been approved and I've been reimbursed $708.80 in the last six months! The only thing I recommend is to get the middle coverage (35 dollars a month). Max almost had to have surgury when he fractured his femur and we would have maxed out our 2500 dollars per accident we get with the basic plan. Great company, I highly recommend!

A+ with one exception

I have 3 dogs insured through PetFirst, and have had some fairly significant claims in the past year, including an emergency surgery at 1:00 am at the vet hospital. Communciation with the co. has ben first rate, they were responsive when a claim disappeared in the mail, and everything has been prompt, courteous and "Bentley" service all the way. My only small complaint is that the routine care is retricive and they are not clear up front that the deductible applies to it, too. Of course, since a single blood panel, set of immunizations and tooth cleaning will run you out of benefit, I guess it doesn't really matter.
