Great Company, need to work on wait times

I purchased my policy in July with a very healthy mixed breed. In October I noticed that she was lethargic, breathing strangely, and just wasn't herself. We took her to the emergency vet immediately and it turns out she had both Pneumonia and Gastroenteritis. $,2000 later I submitted my claim and received about $1,500 back. The claim processing time was reasonable, though I do agree with previous reviews regarding the ridiculous wait times to speak with an agent.

Worst Customer Service in the World

They billed my card for autorenewal, meanwhile I had sent a check not realizing the plan was set up to autorenew. When I got my credit card bill and found out they had billed my card, I thought they had already cashed the check as well. I think I probably tried to call them about it, was on hold a long time and finally gave up on waiting and just filed a dispute on the credit card for the renewal charge. A couple weeks later, I received my uncashed check from them, returned in the mail. So, it was a screw up on both sides. I called my credit card company and cancelled the dispute. They said the charge would go through and I thought the matter was settled. Then, several months later, I got a notice from PetCare saying I had not paid my insurance and my policy had been cancelled. I called customer service 3 times, spending about 20 minutes on hold each time, and talked to two different people, one of whom was a supervisor. He said I just needed to have the credit card company fax proof of payment to him to settle the matter. So, I did that, and called back after it had been done. However, even though they had received the proof of payment from the credit card company, the customer service representatives at Petcare continued to insist that I had not paid them. So then, I wrote a letter to the head of the company, but I got no response. Finally, I contacted a lawyer. After involving the lawyer, I was contacted by a customer service manager from Petcare with whom I was able to settle the matter amicably. This year, they allowed my plan to expire without sending me a renewal notice. Apparently they "don't take checks". That's fine - I'm switching to Petplan.

Preventative and Elective Treatments?

I've been a policy holder for this company for over a year and was impressed with what they claim is covered. However, that is not necessarily the case as I have found out. During my cat's annual examination, my vet advised for tests re kidney function/failure, given my cat's advanced age. Tests were conducted and claim submitted. claim was denied citing "preventative/elective treatment" reason, even though in my policy stated that illnesses of the endocrine system were covered. Here's the catch . . .once an illness has been diagnosed, you probably can claim for treatment of illness, but any tests conducted to diagnose said illness will not be covered, this company says they are "preventative or elective treaments". I have since decided to ensure my pets are never denied coverage for any medical event, test, illness or emergency treatment. I'm now setting aside the premimum amount I was paying to this company plus a little extra monthly to a savings account. :) I would recommend this option to anyone with pets - you'll never have to wonder if something is covered or not.

Cancelled my policy for first claim

I am enraged by Petcare. I paid for it for all four years of my dog's life and never used it. When I recently put in the frist claim, they cancelled my policy and never even notified me! I admit I started getting very suspicious when my Vet tech suggested I call after they faxed the claim to ensure they received the claim. Every time I called, several times an day for 3 wks. I got put on hold for 20-30 mins. and then summarily disconnected. Each time this happened I called back and asked for their sales dept. instaed of claims and my call was answered in 5 mins. or less. No one will give out the names of the officers of the company either! In my book a completely dishonest company and I plan to pursue them legally.

We signed up for PetCare -> the quote over the phone didnt match the paperwork and they forgot to tell me about yearly fee (even though we specifically asked the Pet Care rep). Very poor customer service when i called to inquire about the monthly rate. Was told we would get a callback from a supervisor which never happened...Also, signed up for their "Emergency care" $19.95 year -> they couldnt find the policy# or details when i called?! I then got a letter in the mail (a week later) saying i failed to pay for the Emergency Care policy -> so they cancelled my policy?! I find them unorganised and thank goodness havent had to make a claim to them...I'm currently searching for a new provider :(
