I love Healthy Paws! After my elderly dog passed away a few years ago, I promised myself that I would get pet insurance for any future pets (I didn't have it for my dog & I regretted that). When I adopted my two cats at 12 weeks, I got quotes from every pet insurer I could find. I found Healthy Paws to be the best value--the coverage I was looking for at the best price backed by a name I trusted (Chubb companies). I have been really pleased with my decision ever since & especially this year when my 2-year-old boy cat developed urinary issues & then blockages. It was determined that he needed the PU surgery. It was such stress reliever knowing that the cost would be covered by my plan. And while my vet's office wouldn't accept direct pay from Healthy Paws, I knew that once I submitted my claim for reimbursement, I would have the money in my account within just a few days. Even with a couple of complications post-surgery, I never had to worry about a complicated or drawn-out claims process. In fact, my last claim was submitted on a Saturday & the money was in my account by Tuesday. Just amazing! My sweet Ellie has been a healthy, full-of-life Boston Terrier for all of her nine years. Not too long ago she inhaled a blade of grass on one of our walks. Before her rhinoscopy, we didn’t know it was a foreign object causing her so much distress. I was desperate to find out what was causing her severe reverse and regular sneezing attacks as well as her deteriorating health.

I’m forever grateful that I have Trupanion Pet Insurance. This awesome company and customer support staff quickly responded with pre-approvals for Ellie’s CT scan and then a rhinoscopy to determine a treatment plan. We saw two specialty veterinarians for these two procedures. Both offices submitted the Trupanion claims for me, so I didn’t have to pay so much out of pocket. I’ve learned Trupanion quickly sends claim payments to the veterinarians.

Thankfully, Ellie is back to her bright-eyed, healthy self. Without Ellie’s Trupanion Pet Insurance and given my tight financial budget, I don’t know what I would have done to help her.

Trupanion does not cover exam fees, which would be helpful especially when seeing specialty veterinarians as their initial exam fees were much more expensive than my regular vet's fees. This is important to keep in mind when budgeting for your deductible and percentage payout.

Big picture – Trupanion Pet Insurance makes life better when you’re dealing with a cherished pet’s illness or medical emergency. Based on my experience in the area where I live, it appears that Trupanion has a good reputation with our local veterinarians too.

I am very happy I decided to go with Lemonade when I was looking for pet insurance. I have 3 other older dogs and never knew about pet insurance until I reached out to Lemonade for one of my work files. They we so great and helpful, I went to the site and saw they have pet insurance, I had been looking for a while for my new puppy. I used the online application, received an excellent quote right away. Once I decided they we doing to be my insurance. I downloaded the app, which makes it easy to review the policy I chose and there is always someone to communicate with if you have questions. I recently had to use the insurance for my puppy, who had an ear infection. I opened the app and started a claim, it walks you through step by step. All I had to do was take a picture on my phone and upload it. The only issue I had was not with Lemonade, but with my previous vet, who delayed getting my pups medical records to the agent in a timely manner. The agent went above and beyond and made sure he received the information he need, so I would not have to deal with it. Once he received the information from the vet it was under an hour before I had approval, and a complete explanation of the covered items and not covered items. The money was in my account the next day.

Do you have a cat that simply refuses to drink water? This most likely stems from ancient feline history. Did you know our beloved domesticated cats are historically desert animals, coming out of ancient Egypt and the near East? These cats would get most of their hydration needs from their prey, which allowed them to forgo hunting for clean water sources. While your cat’s ancient ancestors did alright on little water, today’s house cats live much longer lives and therefor require more hydration to stay healthy for longer. For instance, a lack of hydration can lead to kidney disease and bladder stones or crystals. But the more your cat drinks, the more they can flush their urinary tract and keep it healthy and functioning optimally. But getting some cats to drink more can pose an impossible, hair-pulling task. But don’t worry, we’re going to share some simple but highly-effective tips right now to get your finicky cat to drink more! Try a Canned Cat Food Diet If you can’t get your cat to drink more water, get them to eat more water instead. Wet food diets make getting more water into your fur baby much easier. If your cat is currently eating a dry kibble diet, simply add a bit of wet food to it to get them used to it. Most cats are happy to eat some canned food. Increase little by little over time. If for some reason your cat really does not like the wet food, then try adding a little water or chicken broth to the dry food and let it sit 10-15 minutes before you serve. The kibble will soak up the moisture. If your cat is currently eating a wet food diet but your vet has encouraged you to increase their water intake even more, then you can simply add a little water or chicken broth into your cat's food. If your cat refuses to eat the wet food with extra moisture added, don’t try to force them. The last thing you want is for them to develop an aversion to wet food. Simply try another trick from this list. Water Fountains Most cats prefer to drink running, rather than still, water. Maybe cats just love a good chase! Whatever the reason, if you haven’t tried it yet, consider getting your cat a water fountain. Another benefit about water fountains is the filter keeps the water nice and fresh. And, if there is no water shortage in your area, you may also want to consider leaving your kitchen or even a bathroom sink on a slow drip. Try Different Bowls All cats are different. While many prefer fountains, there are those that won’t go near them. If your cat seems like he or she prefers drinking from a bowl but still isn’t drinking enough, try using different bowls made from different materials. You can try glass bowls, stainless steel and ceramic. Plastic is never a good option. Also experiment with the size and shape of bowls, and also the location of the bowls. Wash Water Dishes Frequently Like dogs, cats have an incredible sense of smell, and some cats are sensitive to the smell and taste of water. Be sure to wash your bowls daily to avoid bacterial buildup and refill with cool, clean water. Fill the Bowl Completely Cat’s whiskers are incredibly sensitive and many don’t like when their whiskers touch the sides of food and water bowls. For this reason, it’s a good idea to fill the water bowl completely to the top so your cat has an easier time drinking. Adding Broth or Other Flavoring to the Water Some cat owners have good results with adding a little chicken, beef broth or tuna juice to the water bowl to entice cats to drink. It’s best to boil your own chicken carcass or beef soup bones in water. Broth you purchase from a grocery store often has too much salt or other ingredients like garlic and onions that can be toxic to cats. Here’s a tip: Don’t throw leftover broth away. Instead, fill ice-cube trays and freeze. This way you can easily make one batch of broth each month and can simply toss an ice-cube in the bowl as needed. And speaking of ice-cubes, sometimes just adding regular ol’ ice-cubes to your cat’s water bowl can entice them. First, it keeps the water nice and cold, and most cats seem to prefer cold water. Also, cats like to paw at and play with ice-cubes, and this engagement often leads to a nice slurp and gulp. Filter Your Water Cats are very sensitive to the smell and taste of water. The tap water in your area may have a lot of harsh chemicals in it. Try using a filter pitcher or under the sink filtration system for cleaner water. You can also try bottled water, though that isn’t the healthiest option as the chemicals from the plastic leech out into the water. Again, every cat is different. Some cats will respond to some of these tricks and some to others. Just keep trying until you find something that works for your kitty! I’ve insured 4 dogs with 24PetWatch since 2005 and they’ve saved my hide each and every time. From an $8,000 emergency intestinal blockage surgery to Cushing’s disease, they have paid for EVERY SINGLE ILLNESS without fail. I’m convinced that 24PetWatch has lost money on me. 2 pieces of advice. 1) Buy the largest policy you can afford BEFORE old age and it’s issues arrives. It took 14 years, but Pepper is going to max out her coverage for the first time this year. 2) If you’re insuring a puppy go for the wellness coverage. It easily pays for itself in the first year and I will keep it for the life of my two puppies. The claim process is easy and even though they currently publicize a 16 day turn around, the money from claims spanning 3 months that I submitted last week hit my account in 8 days. I’ve been a 17-year-long customer and recommended them to ANYONE that will listen!

I've been really pleased with Health Paws. My dog needed TPLO surgery (dog version of a torn ACL) and it was VERY EXPENSIVE. I love Healthy Paws! Unfortunately my frenchie, Gidgit, has had a lot of health issues with her eye and her back/neck. She has to do water treadmill and laser rehab every month, she has reoccuring eye ulcers that happen every so often and Healthy Paws has been there every step of the way. Luckily my boy Tonka doesn't have these issues but he is covered too and I would recommend Healthy Paws for ANY pet, you just never know what could happen.
