8/10 Relieved to have insurance.
| I bought this insurance for my daughter and her new puppy over two years ago. We were in a training class with three other families and their pups when one week we learned that "Daisy" wouldn't be back in our class because she had been hit by a car. She had a family who could afford to get her the surgery she needed on two broken legs. I knew that if such a catastrophe happened to our "Jameson,"my daughter, who had just graduated from college, could never afford hospital emergency care, so after some research, I bought ASPCA Pet Insurance for "Jameson."
Two years into the coverage "Jameson" became very sick, vomiting blood and dehydrated due to the vomiting and diarrhea. Medications, x-rays, and IVs cost close to $500. We were very pleasantly surprised to find most of these costs covered and reimbursed. It was a huge relief to know we could quickly get the care "Jameson" needed without worrying about how we were going to afford it. Thanks, ASPCA Pet Insurance! |

7/10 Pretty quick getting reimbursed
I'm pretty happy with the turn around time with claims. The only thing I'm on the fence about is the wellness program. It covers $200.00 annually and cost $180.00 and I need to wait to get my my money back. It's only saving me ten percent and I have to tie up my cash for a few weeks. I'm considering dropping that portion of the plan where as I don't think I get enough bang for my buck...

9/10 Quick, easy, painless...
My dog Jilly had to have bladder surgery. Luckily Trupanion saved the day. My claim was handled with care and I was reimbursed in a timely manner. The only thing I was surprised by, was that I had to pay the taxes. Guess I should have read the fine print. No matter, all's well that ends well. Jilly is recovering quickly, all thanks to Trupanion.

7/10 good coverage, slow response time
I have used ASPCA insurance for 2-3 years now. It has been great in an emergency when I needed pet care that would otherwise be expensive. I generally end up recovering about 60% of the total cost, but the response/payment time can be very slow -- sometimes taking 4-6 weeks. It used to be much faster as a week or 2 at the most.

10/10 EXCELLENT
Healthy Pets is the best! I've heard horror stories from many friends about their pet insurance from refusing to cover a pet, fighting for the reimbursements, complicated paperwork and rude customer service. I faxed my paperwork to Healthy Paws and had a reimbursement check in less than 1 week. Friendly and timely communications and a follow up with well wishes.

10/10 VPI Paid for Mandy's Knee Surgery
My beagle recently tore both the cruciate ligament and meniscus in one of her legs. The vet determined that it would be a challenging surgery to repair her knee because she has such skinny little legs. But surgery went well, and rehab is going well also. The surgery was not cheap - but VPI paid the entire bill. Mandy is covered by VPI's major medical policy and when I called pre-surgery to ask how much of the costs would be covered, I was shocked to learn most, if not all, would be paid by VPI. We're still one month away from finishing rehab, so I'm hoping VPI will pay for that as well.

9/10 Glad that I have VPI for my dog!
I have had VPI for 10 years for my beagle. I am so glad that I have the insurance because it is easier to be able to say yes when she needs something that is expensive. There are times that I would have had to say no in the past because of $. The only thing that I think VPI should work on is how to process claims for a recurrent issue in the same year. I think they should consider a per incident coverage instead of a condition for the entire year. Example - my dog has had pneumonia 3 separate times this year but the max is really only enough to cover one time. Claims have been processed quickly and I like that they send me an email that they have received a claim. It allows me to check with vet more easily when they haven't submitted a claim. Claims processing in the past was slow - it isn't now.
