1/10   Stay Away, 2/1/2016

Reviewed By: Linda , Recommend: N

I had the 30 day coverage as I adopted a puppy from the Humane Society. My puppy was 8 weeks old. She was vomiting a lot on a weekend so I took her to the emergency center. I had to fill out a lot of paper, one question I answered was she sneezed occasionally. This was totally unrelated to the visit. I paid for this visit as it was a day past the 30 day period. I decided to sign up. I had to wait another 30 day waiting period. My puppy was attending a training class with other puppies. She seemed like she had a cold so I took her to my vet. He diagnosed sintitus, picked up in the class. The visit cost me $96, so I submitted it even though I had $100 deductible. It took over two months to get a decision. I had a hard time reaching anyone on the phone during the two months, Finally the letter arrived, denying the claim saying my puppy had a pre existing condition. This because I checked "occasional sneezing". on the intake form at the
emergency care center. Recall she wasn't treated for that. This was totally unreasonable. Dogs and humans all sneeze occasionally. A pre-existing condition!

1/10   Microchip Rip-Off, 1/20/2016

Reviewed By: Mary Butler, Recommend: N

I agree with almost all of the other posts on this site saying that 24 Pet Watch is a terrible company. They take advantage of people trying to protect their pets and give them no benefits from all the money they've spent. There are so many loophooles and fine print that you never get what you sign up for. I had a problem with them from the very beginning. My cats were already microchipped with this company when I got them from the shelter, so I was stuck with it. I signed up for the free 30-day insurance and soon after my cats got sick with a URI and I needed to take them to the vet and get medicine for both of them. They made the claim system extremely difficult and time-consuming, maybe hoping that people won't actually take the effort to file a claim. Tons of paperwork, lots of tedious information needed, and then you have to file it through the vet instead of just sending it in. And none of it cannot be done online in an easy way. Then of course my claim was denied. After all that, I discovered that their microchips don't work after a year unless you sign up for their maintenance program. If you don't pay their yearly fees they won't let you update your information. Can you imagine losing your pet and then being told that their microchip doesn't work because you didn't want to pay a yearly fee for a chip that requires NO MAINTENANCE! As soon as I discovered this, I tried to switch to a new microchip company that doesn't charge after the microchip is inserted and was told that most vets/shelters won't insert another microchip when there is already one in place. So now I'm stuck with this terrible company that at best has a 2-star rating out of 10. This company is the worst.

1/10   RIPOFF to buy Metal Microchip Tag, 12/22/2015

Reviewed By: Deanna, Recommend: N

I ordered the metal tag for 11.95 plus tax and shipping (14.17) to replace the plastic one they provided. What a rip off. It should be engraved not painted. This tag is a cheap as the plastic one. Don't waste your money.

5/10   Slow paying, 12/18/2015

Reviewed By: SM, Recommend: N

They take 30 working days to pay claim once they receive it. problem is they say they haven't received it. Our Vet has had to fax claims 2 an 3 times before they acknowledge that they have received it. In the end they have paid the claims but are extremely slow. and inconsistent on method of payment they have paid claims by cheque and by direct deposit. With their new policies you only have 90 days to submit claims or else they will be denied, so don't assume they have the claim with out following up.

7/10   Not Great, but worth the money,
I've had my dog insured with this company for 4 years and plan to renew again. They rarely pay the full 80% because their "usual and customary expenses" are pretty conservative, but even at the more typical 60% that I receive it has been worthwhile. Customer service was initially poor but has been very good for the past year. They have been very strict about the rules concerning exclusions, pre-existing… read more

5/10   Existing conditions suddenly appear ,
We received three months of PetCare insurance when we adopted our dog three and a half years ago. After the three months were up we renewed the policy. At some point however, my husband was issued a new credit card and somehow the monthly PetCare fees did not transfer over. We discovered we were uninsured just when we actually needed the insurance. PetCare *very nicely* offered to issue a new policy if we… read more

5/10   Just OK,
I have had the 70% Quickcare Gold coverage for 2 years for both my dogs. While my first dog has had a pretty decent reimbursment rate for allergies, she has almost maxed out her coverage in this catagory (where she needs it the most). Beware, the max coverage ($3,000 per catagory)amounts DO NOT renew annually. Now with my 2nd dog, he ingested a bee (I would call it an accident)and had a horrible bout of… read more

2/10   DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!,
Our dog needed TPLO surgery and this company denied him because when he was 6 months old he had growing pains which all Saint Bernards have. He is 7 years old and tore his ACL in a slip/fall. This comapny had the audacity to say that it was a pre-existing condition from when he was 6 montsh old. How can tearing your ACL in the knee be pre-existing? He fell! They want to pay for the shots and regular… read more
