10/10   Pleasantly Surprised!, 4/19/2013

We had paid the monthly premium for nine years and never submitted a claim. When our cat got seriously ill and eventually passed, the time came to finally submit a claim. I filed the claim with great trepidation after reading the many horrible reviews online.

Imagine my surprise when, after a very reasonable time period, reimbursement checks arrived in my mail. I still paid much, much more in premiums than I received in benefits but I have no quarrel whatsoever with this company's claims paying integrity.

1/10   Be prepared to fight tooth and nail, 4/10/2013

Reviewed By: Mark B, Recommend: N

We've had insurance with these guys since 2007 when we adopted our cat. When our cat was ill (he ingested a toxin outside) they tried to claim it was pre-exisiting.

They then tried to claim as there was no definitive diagnosis (i.e. the vet could not specific exactly what the toxin was, just the severe effect it had on our cat (who ended up have his spleen removed)), they would not cover treatment. They then tried to deny our claim as the admin at the vet put the wrong admission date on the paperwork. We had to get a letter from the vet correcting this.

It took us six months of fighting, phone calls, emails letters and faxes to receive payment.

We now currently have a claim open for a heart murmur that was caught during a routine check up, and guess what? They are saying it is pre-existing from the 2007 paperwork. Of course, I have checked the notes from the vet, the claim form from 2007 etc. No mention of any heart issue.

They really are shysters and if we could fine a better insurance plan, we would. But I suspect they are all the same.

1/10   They are a joke !, 4/7/2013

Reviewed By: Cathy S., Recommend: N

We were quickly approved and we took our puppy home that same day .However, just a few days after we adopted our puppy we noticed that he was limping . We had taken him to the vet and the vet said that his leg must have been fractured/ broken possibly in the womb or wherever prior to our adopting him . We then had to take him to a specialist Now the only 2 options we have were to pay for surgery which was over $2000.00 or to wait and see what happens which could mean possible amputation. Are you kidding me ???? Now of course we have fallen in love with this puppy and we really had no choice but to have the surgery. Depending on how this surgery goes he may need yet another one. This has yet to be determined. And who knows how much more money this will cost. Anyways, of course I had contacted the shelter regarding this. Why should this be our bill when it apparently happened before we even adopted the puppy. Do they normally adopt out injured animals ? The shelter had never responded and just forwarded my email to the worthless free 30 day insurance 24PetWatch. This insurance is an absolute joke. They told me to submit a claim for review , which of course they denied it . First they never received my paperwork( so they say- i had a fax confirmation ) and then when they received it it took them weeks to review. I was constatly passed around to all different people . None of which could help . Finally , they denied it for preexisting . How is it preexisting if the

3/10   Very Slow Payment on Claims, 4/4/2013

Reviewed By: D L Harris, Recommend: N

I filed two claims through my vet in early February. When I called to inquire about the status in mid-March I was told one claim had been processed, the amount, and it would be mailed the next week. Two weeks later I still haven't received the check and will be forced to call them again and sit on hold while the electronic voice tries to convince me to hang up and let them call back at their convenience.
On the second claim they told me they had requested more information from my vet. Two days later when I spoke to the tech at my vet's office, she told me 24PetWatch had called them the day before (AFTER my call, which means the PetWatch outrighted lied when she said they had already contacted the vet.
I will not be renewing insurance with this company. They use the insurance dodge of delay and deny a little too effectively.

7/10   Not Great, but worth the money,
I've had my dog insured with this company for 4 years and plan to renew again. They rarely pay the full 80% because their "usual and customary expenses" are pretty conservative, but even at the more typical 60% that I receive it has been worthwhile. Customer service was initially poor but has been very good for the past year. They have been very strict about the rules concerning exclusions, pre-existing… read more

5/10   Existing conditions suddenly appear ,
We received three months of PetCare insurance when we adopted our dog three and a half years ago. After the three months were up we renewed the policy. At some point however, my husband was issued a new credit card and somehow the monthly PetCare fees did not transfer over. We discovered we were uninsured just when we actually needed the insurance. PetCare *very nicely* offered to issue a new policy if we… read more

5/10   Just OK,
I have had the 70% Quickcare Gold coverage for 2 years for both my dogs. While my first dog has had a pretty decent reimbursment rate for allergies, she has almost maxed out her coverage in this catagory (where she needs it the most). Beware, the max coverage ($3,000 per catagory)amounts DO NOT renew annually. Now with my 2nd dog, he ingested a bee (I would call it an accident)and had a horrible bout of… read more

2/10   DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!,
Our dog needed TPLO surgery and this company denied him because when he was 6 months old he had growing pains which all Saint Bernards have. He is 7 years old and tore his ACL in a slip/fall. This comapny had the audacity to say that it was a pre-existing condition from when he was 6 montsh old. How can tearing your ACL in the knee be pre-existing? He fell! They want to pay for the shots and regular… read more
