I was also with Purinacare when the switch happened. They do pay claims slower, but I haven't had any problems. I've had both wellness claims and illness claims paid without any hassles. I will say that if I was buying it now I would not be able to get the deal I have currently as a new 24Petwatch customer. I guess because of the way it was blended with the switch our rates are lower and yet we get full wellness benefits as we did under Purinacare. As long as our rates stay reasonable I'll keep my deal. I've been satisfied with the claims even if they are a bit slow. So are medical insurance companies so I guess I just expected it.

1/10   Dishonest Disgusting Company Taking Advantage, 1/6/2015

We were really happy with PurinaCare, and it is absolutely unfortunate that they sold to 24Pet Watch. Terrible Company. We're up a creek now because we'd had PurinaCare for years and paid so much money into our policy. Our dog hurt her shoulder, and this company has given us nothing but the run around. Claims were submitted (a ridiculous process now), at our surgeon's office. We received a letter stating that they wouldn't be able to process the claim without a paid invoice (had been submitted). We re-submitted a paid invoice and then received a letter stating that they couldn't pay the invoice without the claim. Are you kidding me. I spent an hour on the phone with the company, and they told me that they had never received a claim. I tried to reason with them stating that they never would have known to send me letter number 1 asking for a paid invoice had they not received a claim. Have just been to vet to have claim re-submitted. So dishonest. Such a TERRIBLE company. I suppose we will cancel, and now we're left in the dark since our always insured puppy will now have pre-existing conditions with any new insurance company. It's probably best to put your $$ in a savings account should an emergency happen! Disgusting.

I also had Purina Care and the policy was sold to 24 PetWatch. I had a few problems when I first sent in a claim. I understand they got bombarded with the Purina Care policy's and were very busy during that transition. Since then I have had several claims with them. They are slower in getting the claims out but I do get them. I have added 2 more dogs to our policy's because I like what they pay. If I am going to pay for insurance for my pets I want good insurance. They pay what PurinaCare paid and that is what I want, most other pet insurances do not pay for the office visits. I think they will get it all together now and have better turn around time. And I take my claim form with me to the vet,have them fill it out,then I take it and fax it off myself the same day. How hard is that?

I called on a Monday to get insurance for my dog and the very next day I had to take her to the vet due to an accident. when I was selecting the policy the lady said it would be in effect at 12:01 that night. The very next day when I took my dog to the vet they said it wasn't covered because it doesn't go in effect for another two days. Pet lunch didn't take out the money for the actual pet insurance just yet so I told them to cancel it since it wasn't going to be covered. The very next three days I was charged for the insurance which I cancelled and I asked for a full refund. They said that they would give it to me and it would be 3 to 5 days for me to receive it. The next two days after that I received only partial of the refund and was livid. I called pet watch described my situation and how frustrated I was and they said they had no record of me cancelling and that they could not refund it since it was for the whole month. Even though I canceled it before it even took out of my account I still can't get a refund and I think its bullshit. Also the call center people were very rude and not showing empathy on my situation I can care less. Don't get this insurance if you want to have trouble all the time.!!! I even said for the manager to call me so we can discuss this. Make sure you save all document even calls to Pet watch for proof.

They rarely pay the full 80% because their "usual and customary expenses" are pretty conservative, but even at the more typical 60% that I receive it has been worthwhile. We received three months of PetCare insurance when we adopted our dog three and a half years ago. After the three months were up we renewed the policy. I have had the 70% Quickcare Gold coverage for 2 years for both my dogs. While my first dog has had a pretty decent reimbursment rate for allergies, she has almost maxed out her coverage in this catagory (where she needs it the most). Our dog needed TPLO surgery and this company denied him because when he was 6 months old he had growing pains which all Saint Bernards have. He is 7 years old and tore his ACL in a slip/fall.
